Reverend Isaiah J. Waddy was born to Isaiah R. and Lloyd Hall Waddy in Thomasville, Georgia. The oldest of four children, Rev. Waddy was educated in the public school system of Thomasville, Georgia and Patterson, New Jersey. Upon graduation from High School, Rev. Waddy attended Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. His college education was interrupted with three years in the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. After his military career he returned to Albany State University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1974. Rev. Waddy continued his studies at Valdosta State University (M.S. 1986) Valdosta, Georgia; and the Interdenominational Theological Center (M. DIV. 1987) Atlanta, Georgia.

Rev. Waddy received his call to the ministry at an early age and answered the call to ordained ministry in 1980 while residing in his father's hometown of Camden (Kershaw County), South Carolina. Rev. Isaiah J. Waddy is known as a dynamic Gospel preacher and revivalist. He has preached all across the continental United States and abroad. Rev. Waddy's soul-stirring messages have resulted in thousands of souls being added to the Kingdom of God.

Since 1982, Rev. Waddy has served as a pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal denomination. He served the people of Knights Monumental A.M.E. Church, Stockbridge, Georgia from 1983-1985 where he laid the first cornerstone in the Church’s history. He served as pastor of Knights Monumental and Wesley A.M.E. Church, Newnan, Georgia from 1984-1987 where he led the Wesley Chapel congregation in a total renovation of its sanctuary and fellowship hall. He served as pastor of the St. John A.M.E. Church, Fairburn, Georgia from 1987-1994 where he guided the congregation in purchasing land to erect a new $600,000.00 facility.

Rev. Waddy was assigned to Cosmopolitan A.M.E. Church, Atlanta, Georgia from 1994-1997. Under his leadership the congregation liquidated over $100,000 of debt. In June 1997, Rev. Waddy was assigned to Greater St. Peter A.M.E. Church. Upon his arrival, he led the congregation in over $75,000.00 of improvements without borrowing any funds. Within two years, Rev. Waddy led the St. Peter’s congregation to Clayton County, Georgia, one of the fastest growing communities in Metro Atlanta. In November of 1998 the congregation purchased 18 acres of property located between Jonesboro and Fayetteville, Georgia as the home of the church’s new $1.2 million worship facility. The dedication ceremony was held on June 25, 2000. In 2001, the church opened its Daycare Center from ages 6weeks to 5 years old. In 2002, the church added the Greater St. Peter Christian Academy of Excellence for students from 1st-8th Grade.

Reverend Waddy served as the secretary of the Atlanta North Georgia Annual Conference for 7 years. He has served as the president of the AME Ministers Union. Rev. Waddy served five years on the Planning Board for the City of Fairburn, Georgia. Rev. Waddy serves on the Board of Examiners for the Atlanta North Georgia Annual Conference. Rev. Waddy ran for the Office of Bishop in 2004 and is an aspirant for Episcopal Service in 2008.
