Church Motto: "GOD OUR FATHER, CHRIST OUR REDEEMER, MAN OUR BROTHER"
The YOUNG PEOPLE and CHILDREN’S DIVISION (Y.P.D.) is a youth organization, established October 1915, under the auspices to the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. You will find African Methodists Episcopal Churches throughout the United States, Canada, Caribbean, South America, England and Africa. Y.P.D. units may be found in most local churches throughout the Connection. The Y.P.D. membership is estimated at over 100,000.
The Y.P.D. is administered for youth, 2 to 26 years of age, to provide meaningful training in all areas of Church Life. Members of the Y.P.D. learn first-hand about parliamentary procedures by following their own constitution and by laws.
The structure to implement the program is comprised of the Local, Area, Conference Branch, Episcopal District and Connectional church. The Y.P.D. is divided into four groups (Mother Sunbeams-ages 2 to 6 yrs, Allen Stars-ages 7 to 12 yrs, Young People’s Auxiliary-ages 13 to 17 yrs, and Young Adults-ages I 8 to 26 yrs). ” Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
God bless you in a mighty way! I am excited and delighted to be a part of Greater St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church (at River's Edge). God told me about a year ago that he would send me to a place to ‘build a church' and that's exactly what we are doing here at St. Peter. We are not just ‘building a church building,' but we are building a church of people, people of a new generation, new millennium, new attitudes to serve God in mighty way. God promised that I would be sent to a leader with a vision, with a purpose and with a drive to motivate people to serve him with truth, honesty, and with a love of Christ like I have ‘never' seen before. I am proud to say that the promises of God have been kept and we are doing a mighty work for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Greater St. Peter AME Church.
It is my primary mission in life and my specified calling by God to, train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Prov. 22:6). I am excited to be the Youth Minister and we are about to embark on challenges that will excite our young people and get them motivated to serve the Lord with love, passion, commitment and realism. If you are interested in being a part of a Young People's Department where you can serve the Lord in spirit and in truth, we invite you to join us at Greater St. Peter AME (at River's Edge). Feel free to send me an email at Youth_Min@stpeterame.org and I will give you more details about what we are doing and how you can join us.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the Kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 19:14). Jesus was making a major statement to everyone standing by about the value and significant of children. Our children are just as important today as when Jesus walked the face of the earth. Our children are our future and we need to invest more time in them. The place to start is in the home and church, and ‘not' depends on the school system to introduce our children to Christ. At Greater St. Peter AME, our children are important, and we afford them the time to study the word of God, and to be a part of any area of the church, as they desire. We invite you to join us and let's join together and worship, fellowship, and be continually committed to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
See you in Church Sunday!
